Business Challenge

In contrast to traditional street lighting systems, the advent of modern smart street lighting represents a significant leap forward. While the concept may appear straightforward, delving into the intricacies reveals a considerable cost factor. The emergence of smart lighting systems mirrors humanity’s innovative spirit, driving an increasing demand for robust industrial routers to effectively manage and control these advanced systems. The Municipal Engineering Company approached Greenawell with specific requirements for their envisioned system. Following an exhaustive project analysis, we successfully navigated various technical challenges and delivered a satisfactory solution for our partner.

Technical Requirements:

    1. A dependable network connection is imperative.
    2. The router must withstand harsh environmental conditions, spanning scorching daytime temperatures of up to 50 degrees to frigid nighttime lows of -15 degrees.
    3. Dual SIM card support is necessary, enabling the use of two operators’ services.
    4. The router should feature Wi-Fi capabilities, ensuring seamless connectivity for all controllers to transmit data back to the Monitoring Center.
    5. Given an IP camera every 500 meters, the routers must facilitate high-speed data transmission, enabling the transfer of pictures and videos back to the monitoring center via the cellular network.

Solution

Greenawell’s GW-920 Cellular Router with Wi-Fi stands out as the optimal model for this application. All smart street lighting controllers connect to these routers, which can trigger them via DI/DO functionalities. These routers have demonstrated their industrial prowess in challenging environments, establishing trust and reliability. The successful deployment of the first phase of the project has paved the way for plans to extend it into the second phase
