Remote Monitoring of Gas Pipelines

Published On: December 19th, 2023

Business Challenge

With the improvement of living conditions worldwide, Natural Gas has increasingly replaced Coal Gas as the preferred choice. Gas companies now face the crucial challenge of effectively delivering clean and pure Natural Gas to households globally. However, safeguarding the infrastructure to prevent theft or tampering with the pipelines poses a significant hurdle.

Technical Requirements:

The system must efficiently gather and transmit data from pipeline flow controllers to a centralized SCADA center, utilizing a 4G LTE network. Incorporating various router interfaces, including RS232 and Ethernet RJ45, is essential to ensure seamless connectivity with diverse types of pipeline controllers. Routers must feature a rugged, industrial design capable of withstanding hot and humid environmental conditions. A 4G LTE network is crucial to eliminate delays in data transmission. The system must establish an IPSec tunnel to guarantee the security and encryption of all transmitted data.

Solution

Greenawell’s GW-210 Router, equipped with an RS232 or RS485 port and 2 Ethernet Ports, establishes connections with a variety of pipeline controllers. This data is efficiently transmitted to the SCADA center through a robust 4G LTE network. The system ensures the encryption of all data, effectively thwarting potential security threats or hacking attempts. Our O20 remote monitoring system introduces a remarkable innovation in pipeline applications, significantly reducing the need for on-site personnel to collect data, thereby advancing the efficiency and reliability of the entire pipeline network
